I have just acquired a Tilley Lantern my father has been buying lanterns at garage sales for years, anyway I need help identifying so I can get parts to get it running, and restoring. It is a complete lantern, and shape is not bad, pump will not make any pressure. I believe it is a Model x246, made between 1954 to 1957. It has the Tilley Name on the side with the Owl.
Hi Backyard burner you are right you have a 246 you will need a service kit for the 246 and not a service kit for the modern 246B as the non return valve is slightly different, the loss of pressure is most likely the pump filler washer but the non return valve washer control cock washer and the vapouriser washer could all so cause the pressure loss. a service pack from Spiritburner or base camp will be needed good luck with your fettle and welcome to CPL
Yes, this is an X246, generally referred to as a 'Guardsman'. It might have a date stamp on the underside of the tank. If it has, the first number is the month and the other two give the year. If it has no date stamp, it'll be from 1954 to October 1956. Hope that helps...
Thanks, with help, now question is, can I get parts here in the States, or will I need to plan to order from England, and who has the parts for X246. Roll Tide Roll
Hi there! You can always look on Ebay or there is a uk family business called the Base Camp Try googling it. Adam
Welcome to the forums BYB... Your Guardsman looks complete as far as I can see. Almost certainly, it will need new seals and pump washer. You can get them very reasonably from Ross - click [url=http://0flo.com/index.php?threads/ - it's the 498 kit you'll need. Hope that helps...
