    Need to locate a globe for the attached lamp (will post in the Wanted section) but first I am looking for confirmation it is a Tilley X246 manufactured in Sept 1957. (Date code 9570A)

    Thanks in advance, Graham

    I most likely have a spare globe and insect guard for you. What part of Melbourne are you in? (Send me a message)

    @paparazi

    What did you mean by “...early with its owl emblem”?

    I was wondering the same thing as I believed the Date Code 9570A means it was a Sept 1957 build. Anyone know what the "0A" means?

    @Graham-Melbourne

    The letters after the numbers on Tilleys have not been deciphered.

    Your date is correct.

    Cheers

    From my understanding, Tilley stopped using the stamped emblem during 'Gaurdsman' style font production, obviously after 57 lol.

    That's an X246 as has been said, typical for 1957 but you can't always tell just by a quick glance. There's actually a cross-over model between the X246 and the X246A. See here:-

    1961 (August) X246 'Guardsman' - or is it?

    I still don’t understand your comment.

    The “Guardsman“ X246 was first produced in 1949. Up to at least late 1954 it had no stampings at all. The “owl” came later.
