With the coming of the new year here in the US, the federal ban on 100W light bulbs will go into effect [-X (they've been banned in the EU for a few years as I understand).

For some, this has caused much consternation and gnashing of teeth :rage: . Many have stocked up (hoarded you may say) a lifetime supply (yours truly included) of these horrid and wasteful relics of the past which devastate the environment (hmm, some may even feel that way about our beloved high carbon footprint lamps). I'm not a Luddite, and do use some CFLs, but sometimes you just need a good 50 cent light bulb.

But fear not, where there's a void, an entrepreneur will sure fill it.

Enter the Heatball (from Germany)

I love this line from the web site "During its use as a heater, HEATBALLS have an unavoidable emission of light in the visible spectrum."
And one from the Heatball Thesis...
"Heatball is free from mercury, independent from lobbyists, and a symbol of free mind"

Hmmm. Do they do them with a bayonet fitting. We don't use the ES fitting much here. ::Neil::

    Hello Dan,
Just imagine a Fairground Steam Engine with LED's around it's canopy. Well that would be just great ! !
    Maurice.

    That's great, love it!
I'm sure I read in the press a while ago that you can still get 100W bulbs for "industrial use", and that there are still stockists of "industrial use" 100W bulbs.
