I'm tired of drooling over other people's lamps so here is a picture of part of my collection of Tilleys. You will see that I am fond of chrome lamps and have a chrome TL10, TL14, TL120A, ML93 and KL80. These are the 'girlie' lamps, another pic will follow of the rest of my collection.
Slobber, slobber. slobber... Very nice! I especially like the table lamp with the amber ceramic base and the white shade.
Hi Jean your lovely collection of Tilleys makes my lonely 246 feel sad look forward to seeing the rest of your collection, Frank.
Such a nice collection. Even the TL14 Looks nice BRING ON THE NEXT PIC It would be nice to see more members collections Ozz
Superb collection and nicely displayed. Gives us Tilley-challenged lampies something to strive for. Scary to think this is just the "girlie" stuff. Bring on the Big Bertha? Dan
Yes a very nice collection some of which even old timers like me can only dream of owning. That Old Gold VL1 vase lamp is perhaps the one that turns up most often and is the one I have here. Very few collectors own two VL1s and they are the ones most collectors dream of having in all 6 colours. All have been seen but as far as I know never all together at the same time and place. ::Neil::
Hi Jean I somehow envisaged you having a nice collection (I guess from your thread content on bbl), its a fine show of whats probably only a small proportion of your collection i'm sure. Look forward to seeing the rest jean Ray
I think you've moved the hassock from in front of your Tilley shrine, Jean! Well, here's mine:- Sorry about the extraneous junk (and dust!) Eerily similar to Jean's collection, although not so well-stocked, unfortunately - when you're a Tilley collector, there are definite advantages to living in remotest Scotland! I do even have a bracket lamp exactly the same, but I stopped short of screwing it to the fire surround! The table lamp is there only until the Jacobean with left-hand twist presents itself... Right, off to bump up the house insurance now...
Nice display folks but with kids running around I can't display in the house like yours they would only last a short time But nice to see them on display like this Kenny
Indeed! Nice displays. I really like the Jacobeans. Sort of baroque-ish. They look nice. And so do the more common TL´s, especially those with a cream coloured tank. But I never understood the vase lamps. Strange setup to put a lamp in a vase... Or in a large chunk of wood for that. It doesn't look right to me.
Too right, Kenny! - if anybody even suggested bringing kids round here, I'd probably c**p myself... Mind you, I haven't mentioned my special security advisor - Sir Robert Helpmann - sheer class!
No kids around here but I've just had 3 dogs romping around in the hallway where my display stands! Only one mine but she brought some friends home. Hope to get 2nd pic on tomorrow but it may disappoint as size of collection is small owing to the fact that I have sold lots in order to pay bills, including 3 VL1s (old gold and saxe blue) and 4 Jacobean. I think I may have had 2 different twists at the same time David but kept the lamp that was in the best condition. Husband made the stand and I can screw wall lamps on at the sides when necessary.
Cats are trickier since they tend to jump up on most furnitures or shelves. Here's a pic I took a long time ago after the rodent control officer, to use Neils word, I had back then decided to stroll around some lamps on a cabinet in the living room. You can spot a grey creature to the right, and behind the ArcoLite and the Nulite. I found him up there a couple of times, but there never was any glass/globe related accident! Flexible animals, those cats.
Is that a Tito Landi I see lurking at the back there, Christer..? ... Still, you can make it up to me with the CL72...
Hi Jean David and Christer what a collection of some rather rare and beautifull lamps a real asset to a collection
I like Girlie lamps Being a newbe I can only dream of owning lamps like these Great to see peoples collections. Please let us have more
Well, my picture wasn't to show any collection. It was just to point out that not only dogs and kids are dangerous for our stuff. Luckily that cat never managed to destroy anything, and he was the one that was most eager to climb on shelves and furnitures. The collection is hard to make in one picture, even if it's a small one compared to most people in here. The lamps are scattered all over the place, e.g. those on that cabinet where the cat strolled on the previous picture. Here's an image from the "office" where I sit and get my inspiration when reading CPL and CCS. No table lamps there. (Oh, well... perhaps e few.) Indeed it is! I like those. I actually do got the chimney for that particular one. I must have been fiddling with it when that picture was taken since it's missing there.
Well Christer……… a nice display and I recon you get inspired all the time . The chilly winter nights will be OK when you have at least four Optimus heaters to run. What about these blue spot lights under your shelves…? Have you installed a hollow wire spot light system ? /Conny
Thanks everyone. It is inspiring to work at the computer with that wall next to you. But you would be terrified if you saw the opposite side of that room... it's full of the blowlamps that so many in here despise. I think this picture was taken around christmas a year ago. I tossed a light chain behind the shelf to give some background illumination of the lanterns. It looks quite nice when the lamp in the ceiling isn't turned on as it is in the picture.
Second and final picture of the rest of my collection (minus all the rubbish left in the garage!). Tilleys - TL10 in home made carrier; R22 radiator; AL10 minus hood and shade; chrome swan neck; PL55; IL34 minus 302 globe (thanks to the person who outbid me recently on eBay); couple of 246s. Also Akron Diamond and Kildark chandeliers, Kildark pendant lamp minus pendant; Coleman BQ (I think) 1931 swan neck with shade; Dolphin Firelight, stove conversion part missing pan rest.
Very nice Jean! I really like that Kildark, even without the hanger. It looks like it has a little foot which allows it to be used as a regular table lamp too?
Don't forget not all of us dislike blowlamps i have around forty myself & they give just as much pleasure when fettled , some are like little jet engines when running at full tilt & are a good source of NRV's if damaged or incomplete when purchased Stu
Now that final picture I like 'cos there is nothing there I don't also have. Nice collection of rare stuff. It is not so much that we despise blow lamps but we don't encourage them here because we don't want them taking over. Given the number of collectors of them and how many there are to be collected we could get swamped. I have fettled a few and still have maybe half a dozen or so here. ::Neil::
