Was going to get this one ready to put on eBay, minus shade, but decided to show it here first. I may even hang on to it.
She's a beauty and no mistake, Jean so maybe you should keep it. It looks to be in original condition with the two tone paint and graded orange shade.
”Eye of the beholder” as they say. Lit, it would create in those of pale complexion a rather Trump-esque orange spray-tan look.
Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately we’ll never know as the back side of the shade has been broken and glued crudely together with one piece missing.
In my defence it’s quite a common lamp. This one came back to Scotland from Zimbabwe with some more uncommon lamps. The shade will have to stay with me because of its condition, it came from my sister-in-law.
That has to be be one of the best 'original patina' pork pie table lamps i have seen, also the shade is very unusual and striking? Very nice Jean : ) Did you go out there at all? .. I have cousins in Harare, I would love to go but that will have to wait...Things have been very difficult there.. : (
I agree entirely - the lamp itself is one of my favourites but, IMHO, the shade colour is vile. I seem to recall there was also a blue coloured shade. Or maybe I've dreamed that...
Now you're just being a tease, Neil! Honestly, the prices of these Tilley shades is getting bonkers. There's one on the Bay for £170 for goodness sake!
Ooooh Neil, you’ve set my pulse racing! Wouldn’t that look gorgeous on my saxe blue VL1? Is it yours Neil?
No it isn't and I can't remember who owns it either. I think I saw it an an HLC meeting some time back. If it was mine it would be parked on the blue VL1 right next to me. ::Neil::
