Chote Vintage Facebook and Lanterner Youtube present Aida No.100 150cp Kerosene Storm proof lantern Made in Germany No.1 No.2
Strange that for its age it has CP as a rating. Also I can't remember that I have Original AIDA seen before. I hope its not a fake AIDA.
These Aida markings are curious. I have seen 3 variations on different Aida models. All on lanterns found in the Far East. I assume they were marked as such by an Aida dealer/agent in India and Burma. From the images I guess the model 100 is the original design and the other two are later copies. They are not common and to date I know of maybe less than four or five with collectors. ::Neil::
Just in the last week I have been sent some more info on this Aida marking with catalogue scans and images from Sun Swan. The same logo appears on a label for a Hirschhorn-Aida model 231 do-nut lamp found in Thailand. These lamps are advertised and illustrated as the 1924 Hirschoorn patent DE435516 and described as German lamps but the label states Diamond Star lamp and the logo as "Bird on Wheel Brand". ::Neil::
