Question 1. Did Tilley ever make 169 (or 606) vapourisers with diamond knurling on the brass? We Aussies usually associate the diamond knurling with Kayen vapourisers. Question 2. Has anyone ever seen a Tilley vapouriser with the steel tube stamped? Thanks in advance. Cheers Tony
I have a few Kayen vaporisers only one I can read is (B 4) has anyone any ideas as to signicance of code
@Graham P The stamping appears to be done manually, after the vapouriser is assembled, rather than in the manufacture of the tube itself. I’ve got a few of these marked ones. I’ll check them. Tony
Would these manual stamping be like a final inspection stamping and coded for a particular inspector? Just a thought. Cheers Pete
I am now proposing the hypothesis that 169 vapourisers that have diamond knurling on the brass nut are made by (or for) Kayen. Some have stamped numbers/letters on the steel tube (see above); most (?all) have a concave indentation in the brass: Cheers Tony
From my store of Kayen vapourisers, more do not have the indentation than do. It seems very few have the number stamps.
