Hi all, Is this normal or is it damaged and US? i don't remember seeing one like it before but it seems uniform all the way around, use or bin? Thanks.
Hi MG, I may be wrong but is it weld. It's just that I remember seeing a thread regards welding at the base. If you search this recent post, you'll see what I mean Very odd Tilley 606 vapouriser Regards, Dave.
Hi @MG If it works ok it will be fine... some vapourisers were made that way (crimped)... they usually swell at the burner end, so much so that it makes removal of the burner assembly very difficult? Have you tried it yet? Build up of carbon on the needle is usually a sign that 'heat and quench' is needed followed by tapping
Thanks gents i've just wire brushed it and looked through a magnifying glass and if anything it does look more like a crimp than anything else, i was in the middle of cleaning it and noticed the bulge and thought i'd best check rather than waste my time with it if it wasn't any good, i will be testing it over the weekend hopefully.
Hi pb, Why do vapourisers swell at the end? Is it because for some reason, they overheat. Is it to do with carbon build-up on the pricker? Dave.
Hi @Dave Lockett , There are theories and i just did a search at the top right in the search box for 'Swelling Vapourisers' and there are lots of interesting threads if you feel like reading through? The one experience i have had was similar to @David Shouksmith where rust build up between the spigot and the vap tube was to blame... I do like to have a read of the threads here, there are some great stories and so much to learn
