I have a doubt about the C of this Solex 200 C I have two of those little Solex one is exactly like your's And the other is stamped "200 C", but is fitted with a "loffel" rapid preheater However, I do not know what means this "C" on the fount. Is there someone who speaks Italian on the site?
I assume that the C. just simply is the abbreviation for Italian candele (as mentioned in the broshure) in the same way as CP is Candle Power or HK is Hefnerkerze.
This ad probably is a good reference for you lamp if you found your lamp in Australia. This brand seems to have been resurrected after the war. I posted another Solex Model from 1951 in a different topic. From what I have read, it appears the belief is this brand only lasted to the early 40's at best. That may be so. The evidence is showing the lamp was manufactured just prior to the 50's then into the 50's. I have seen ads from 1947 in Australia. I have seen ads for 10CP, 200CP and 300CP Solex pressure lamps from 1947 onwards. I am not stating the ad is depicting your lamp or suggesting your lamp isn't from an earlier era. I am simply giving information that may help work out what is what. 1949
Graham Are you able to photograph the burner for this lantern? I have one (Australian import) with no burner attached, and a box full of odd lantern burners. Cheers Tony @Graham P
