I'm jealous. I was looking forward to doing something similar but my hopes were dashed by the weather which turned cold and very wet. Henry.
@Henry Plews Shame you did not get to play with lamps this weekend. I was lucky through sheer determination and nothing better to do. No rain here but really really windy, I had to give up on Saturday night and spent Sunday checking the weather all day and sprung into action at 9pm. Was worth it, mild enough to sit outside wearing shorts until the daylight made the lamps redundant. Can't wait until next week.
It’s mid summer here in the Highlands, wet, cold and windy. As opposed to winter, when it’s wet, cold and windy.....
Great idea to have a lite-up every weekend, miss one you always have the next weekend. Out of it right now; can't walk, can't pump'em up but I can enjoy seeing what great lanterns/lamps the rest of you have! I've really been impressed!
Well I did have the Tilley TL10 from when I was a lad lit in the house but it's not the same as having two three lanterns lighting up the garden. Henry.
Talking of Newark (Smeaton's Lakes) things are quite different there now! £17 a night, no loo's or showers and marked designated pitches as if the 6 metre fire regulation that already exists isn't enough. lol Martin
Ok, I’ve been inspired by this thread to try and light a lamp by wood friction and maybe post it on YouTube....
Another weekend with fine weather, another chance to enjoy some light. It still gets daylight at 4am but I thought I would check on it anyway with all sorts of wildlife noises for company. Currently fettling some bialaddins to join the bonfire fleet.
No work Monday means I can light up again on Sunday, all good fun with some mild fettling going on in the background.
@James K A nice light-up. I had planned to do someting similar but the weather had plans of its own. Henry.
@Henry Plews Hope you get some good weather soon. I have been very lucky in cromer recently, Sunday night was mild enough to wear shorts all night. @Alex Smith My optimus is a regular and star performer on the bonfire crew, appears just as bright as it's larger friends, light and forget reliable and uses 2/3d's the fuel.
Now that is a nice selection of lanterns for Bonfire Crew. Hope it goes well and you have a enjoyable evening.
