One of my newest lanterns and my first kerosene... a Facebook find from pretty close to me. I just noticed the CP Rail marked on the collar today and figured it was worth a few photos... Once I get it cleaned and running I’ll be sure to post some action shots
Thanks yes it is other than a small bit of rash on the bottom.. I’m quite pleased with it. I was unaware of the CP Rail and the box when I purchased it so it was a pleasant surprise. A proud addition to the collection.
Is there an ink stamp on the box anywhere that has it being shipped to the "Angus Yards" in Montreal, Quebec? That was a huge repair centre for the Canadian Pacific Railway and lots of the Coleman stuff for the CPR went there. I have a case of globes for 247R lanterns that was sent there--unfortunately none of the uber-rare CPR half frosted globes were in it. Rats! Great looking lantern and obviously a bit of a sleeper on Facebook marketplace. Mike.
I’m no expert by any means but as far as I know that means it was made for use by the Canadian Pacific Railway
Awesome find. Whenever I see a green 639 I try to check for the CP Rail embossing. I found mine with box (Angus Yards stamping as well) in a town with no CP Rail facilities. I really lucked out. Mine is dated 1984 and the tank label is different from yours.
There are no shortage of them it seems. It seems like there's always at least one for sale on free classified sites or online auctions sites.
Unless you are John Coyier, someone just tried to sell me your lantern with your pictures, if you are John Coyier, contact me …but I doubt you are.
