No money shot but, the chrome finish was shot so i got rid of it and now it looks like a different style Handi
It was chrome, but very poor, it appears to be copper coloured, with all the polish wheeling it didnt look brass on any patch, thepump tube is brass it is evident, ill have to find out if handi ever made copper tanks, i guess at some stage they may have had cost cutting measures,
@Darryl Durdin I am not familiar with Handi lanterns, but Handi stoves had copper tanks: Handi Stovette (single; silent) Cheers Tony
Handi did make copper tanks, but I can't remember which variations can be found with them. Are the parts on this lamp original as you found it Darryl? I would normally expect that label on a slightly later variation.
It appears to be that Handi made the fonts from copper , it has the steel base plate, the lantern is made from an earlier tank, the rest is from a later lantern, may be after ww2 as resourses or supply may have been limited. Apparently copper tanks were just painted, red seems to be common. Later the tanks may have been steel (yet to find one) heavily copper plated, then nickel plated. Most of what i have found are brass then nickle plated. You just never know what you can come across Here's the money shot. Very cool lantern bought back into service. Thanks fellas for your contributions very much appreciated
