I tried firing up this Hipolito 502 earlier, and after giving it plenty of preheat via the meths tray i got a lot of flame from the nut at the base of the vaporiser tube.
Would this be a simple case of just tightening the joining nut, or is there anything else to look out for?
Slight cleanup job in progress after that!
Apart from that it's in good nick and holds pressure no problem.....

The flame from the vaporiser base nut indicates it's not enough
tightened or the joint is uneven and needs to be straightened.

Yes, it needs to be tightened and I also coat the threads which the nut screws onto with some soap from a bar of hand soap, many years ago I saw that tip in some Coleman paperwork and I tried it and it works.

I use copper grease for this type of joint. Nice lantern BTW.

Thanks Guys, I had to go to work shortly after posting the question, so I haven't tried tightening it yet!
I now own 3 of these Petromax Type lanterns, and I reckon they are my favourite type, so I might focus on collecting more of these. So far I have this one, a lovely Butterfly which I believe is Malasian made, and I have a brand new Petromax also.
    Thanks again for the advice.....
