A friend kindly gave me an AL21. I notice the air buttons are different to any I have seen including another AL21 that I own. Maybe it was a "tropical" model for Australia to keep the wee beasties out? Also note the glass retaining ring is steel rather than copper

You have a very, very kind friend. I wish I had friends like him.

Mine are standard looking and I'll check the ring out as I thought mine was steel.

Have a look at this post here.

It may not be a Tilley at all.

Gulliver awakes!! Yes that is it. Whilst always aware of the company, and some of their products, never knew they made these.
    Thanks

    Ahhh, very good.
You have just knocked me of my pirch as being the only known CL12 owner.
    (Known by me anyway)

Could I convince you into doing a post for the gallery showing the differences between the Kayen and the Tilley.
Firstly though, does it have a pressure pip ??

Yes does have a pressure pip. I am doing some fettling at the moment including a repaint. Door Catch is missing so making one. At this stage following the Tilley one although I see from your photos that the CL 12 is a bit different. Will post photos in due course

@jmwatt , before you put it all back together, could you see if it has this writing on the glass please.
You will not see it when it is mounted in the door.
