I picked this thing up off Ebay, as I only wanted the gallery.
Anyway, what is, or was it ? Any date on the cock pressure release valve ? and the copper tube ?

    Is it a cobble ?

    Thanks
    Ian

Hello Ian, it's a cobbled lamp, the copper tube is a home made job.

The rest of it is all good quality Tilley parts, that tank was used on the R1 and the TL14.

The control cock is an XN., so it's pre-1940, it should have a black cloth filter on the bottom end, but they are often missing, Jeff.

Is that boss by the middle a blind bolt hole for the handle of such as R12 and TL14 as Jeff suggests or is it a threaded through hole for a pressure release. If it is a through hole then the tank is from model EX4 and quite a desireable piece from which you will be able to recreate a nice and rather uncommon lamp. ::Neil::

    Thanks Jeff

Neil - The tank has too many dents in it to be any good.

    Cheers
    Ian

Dents maybe but of it is an EX 4 tank then it is worth restoring. If it's an R1 tank then scrap it. ::Neil::

Hello Neil, it is an R1 or TL14 tank, if you look closely at the bottom rim, then you will see the hole for the bottom bolt for the handle, Jeff.

Hole? What hole? Hawkeye indeed 'cos I can't see it. Still if it is there then it is a scrap tank. ::Neil::

Look at Ian's middle pic and follow a line from the upper hole down to the rim. You can just see the barest trace of the lower hole for the handle...

Hello one and all, I always have magnifying glasses near my PC., they come in handy.

RI/TL14 tanks are handy to have sitting spare, as they can be also be fitted to trackwork lamps and the OH-574 etc., with a little fettling perhaps. Jeff.
