I don't know the history about the Thermos.
    Finding it difficult to compare.

    Best Regards, Thanks.

1967????? Never seen one by Thermos for that year. Up to now the only year I knew they made a milspec was 1963. Now then I am a cynical old fart and whilst I won't say I don't believe you I do want to see the evidence please. So can you show us the date stamp please because if it is 1967 then it is a good find and I want the evidence so I can record it. ::Neil::

Ah it was worth asking then and many thanks. You had me all excited there for a while. A pity but AFM is not Thermos. AFM is Auto Fab Mfg and I do have them listed as making a milspec in '67 ::Neil::

    But ...
    Why?
A set of pumps very similar Thermos type.

-Lamps made from AFM has very little, because I've never seen this brand.-

Terry Marsh and I had some correspondance with the son of the guy who ran the factory in the 1960s and 1970s. I did have all the details here on file somewhere but I can't find it. I know that Auto Fab, Form Tech, Armstrong and SMP are all the same factory who used different names at different times. They were not lamp makers and only made the milspec. I think they did a lot of Government contract work of other types.

You are right that the pump looks very like a Thermos and it is possible that Armstrong bought those from Thermos. There are variations in them which I have not recorded. Here is the only image I have of an AFM lantern and as you can see this has a filler cap not a combined pump/filler but I don't know the date for this one.
