First job on it, silbrazing an air inlet tube to the burner out of the way, I knew I couldn’t leave the burner outlet-to-body joint hanging by a thread - literally. Most of the threads on the brass component had burnt away. Cleaned up, the extent of the damage was even more evident. The outlet holes had not eroded so I decided the burner was recoverable by silbrazing the two components together, ensuring a gas-tight joint that keeps the flame inside the burner gauze and not spilling outside of it. Next job was to fabricate a couple of clips for the guard, the original MkI type with less ‘spokes’ and four clips, two of which were missing. Steel strip of suitable gauge, cut and bent to a profile matching that of the remaining originals. Silbrazed in position (4 o’clock and 8 o’clock). One of the original clips. Seals have been replaced, font needs paint (it’d been stripped to brass). I’ll re-varnish the handle too. John
