    My Tilley FL6 floodlight projector came without a stand or tripod.
    Across the many fora I saw people nicely recreating the original stands, but also making their own versions.
    Most of them are welded, fixed stands which are very sturdy. The downside is they take up more space during transport.

    I wanted something that could be disassembled and easy to make myself; no welding, only using basic tools.

    Here it is in its current state; still work in progress but functional:

    It consists of:
    • 2 U-shaped stands
    • 2 cross bars
    • 4 bolts with a knob
    • 4 nuts with a knob
    Mild steel flat 25x5mm bar was used, similar to the original stands.
    Placing the bars in a vice and some good whacks with a heavy hammer did the trick to bend them into the more or less right shape.

    It can be bolted together to a single flat package of 45cm by 34cm

    The stand can be mounted to the FL6 part by part, or completely assembled and the bolted to the FL6. In both cases the FL6 can remain standing on its tank.
    Once fully assembled/bolted on just lift the FL6 by the handle and the stand will swing under the FL6.

    That’s great, & if you don’t mind I may pinch the idea for my own FL6

    @malcolm race no problem!

    @Tom Pedersen These were purchased at a local hardware store. I used the M8 size.
    Try a search on eBay, Amazon or Aliexpress on ‘M8 knob’
