Hey. Here at CPL I see many lamps which emit a clear white and bright light. I want to know what mantle you are apply as I think my lamps mostly emit a more yellowish light. That no matter what type of lamp it is. For Tilley I use these. TILLEY LAMP MANTLES PRESSURE LAMP MANTLES KEROSENE LAMP SPARE PARTS SERVICE KIT | eBay For Optimus, Primus, Petromax etc. I use Veritas Mantle Will be happy for other options. Tom
I actually like the more yellowish light. On my Optimus I run with Optimus Mantles, wich are more whiteish in their appearance. Matti
@Tom Pedersen The link you have provided, I have tried those mantles and found that I didn't like them, but that's just my opinion. I have use some from Anaconda and they are better i believe. Also I have alot of old stock, which I use if I know that, that particular lamp won't be pulled apart, or I have ran out from the others that I have bought from Anaconda, I hope that helps
@Buggerlugs Hey. Thanks for the answer. How do I get mantle from Anaconda. Do you have a link. @Matti Kucer I also have a few of the old Optimus mantle and you are right that they are whiter in color. @WimVe The mantle definitely does not fail anything, they are very durable. It's only because I want a clearer light in the lamps. Tom
For Tilleys I prefer to use the old Tilley mantles and the link below shows several variations of those. For Vapalux/Bialaddin I use their branded mantles and for the Petromax genre of lanterns I use Anchor mantles, I also use those on the Coleman 237 etc., because they are more bulbous and therefor form closer to the vapouriser and so keep it hotter which makes the paraffin/kerosene vapourise properly and the light brighter. @JEFF JOHNSON Hey. Thanks for your reply. Before I used Tilley Happy Mantle, these can still be bought in Denmark, but the price is quite high. they cost in Denmark the equivalent of £ 5.56 each. That's a lot of money for a retiree. Can you give me a link where I can buy Tilley mantle in England. I am also missing some for my FL 6. Tom
Tom, I tend to use Coleman mantles for Coleman. For Petromax and Optimus I use Luxor mantles, they come in various CP ratings and give a nice white light. They are available on ebay from a seller in Germany.
As a photographer I would caution about relying on photographs of burning lamps. The colour temperature in particular will vary according to camera settings and then the final view will much depend on the calibration of your monitor. If you know the settings used by the photographer and that your monitor has been calibrated by a suitable device and software, then that will give you a reasonable representation of the original scene. If not, don't worry.
@Tom Pedersen Im not sure if this will help you, but here it is. Anaconda Epping Store - Low-Priced Camping Store In Victoria
