any one who can help me..i have a anchor pressurized lantern to restore..the gas tank has been cut into two, dont know what will i use to bring it back together...can i use lead? or should i used silver? examining inside the tank there are some lead the manufacturer use..if i use lead to cover the whole cut will it hold the pressure and heat when it operates..
I would recommend a new tank and not fixing it. can you send pics of what was done? These are quite common and a replacement tank is not that difficult to find.
its impossible to find a new gas tank here in philippines unless i will buy a brand new lantern..i will try to post pics tomorrow..thanks
A replacement tank? How many would you like. I must have half a dozen scrap Anchor lamps about the shed. They are gradually being canibalised for parts so I can certainly afford to lose a tank. PT me and we can work out a deal. ::Neil::
I wonder why anyone would do that. Possibly they've been trying to repair a leak in the top of the tank - hence the heat mark around that pigeon-poo brazing. Whatever, it's scrap...
thanks for the offer sir Mackburner, the international shipping will cost me a lot,it will cost 3X more than buying a 3 sets of brandnew anchor lantern..but if your location is also here in the Philippines, then why not
Hmm yes you are probably right and I am in the UK so the mail cost would be about £12 for a 1KG small packet. Might be less because I think an Anchor tank boxed for mail would be less than 1KG. ::Neil::
Perhaps you should keep that lantern for spare parts and get another one which is in decent condition, it's an idea anyway, Jeff.
