Could not resist this one, not a great rarity l think, but it is in nice condition and looks quite nice after just a good wipe down and washing the glass. I need to re seal the control cock but I've never done the aluminium one can anyone tell me does the plastic knob screw off or pull off? 00
Thanks for that,I looked at it closely and it seems to have a kind of crimped end to the shaft which shows through the plastic knob.
I was amazed, the plating has a couple of small scratches under the chrome frame plate, and the hood has two little marks where the bail touches it but otherwise it seems like it has only been fired a couple of times, the on off paper was still on the cock spindle. I am re sealing it but not sure if I will actually use this one, would be nice to preserve it.
That has not seen much use and so should give you years of service without much more than a few seals and a mantle or two. Great find. Has it got a date stamped underneath ?
Sorry I missed your post. On the bottom in the center is stamped:. 282 not sure if that is a date code, I don't see any other marks.
I wondered if that could be the case, so it's only 38 years old, it must have been in a nice safe place.
There's one to be had from Trevor's collection if anyone's interested... https://classicpressurelamps.com/threads/trevors-lamps-and-lanterns.17067/
