This brand is in @Mackburner PLC so yes, the brand is known. I don't think there are many of these lamps known so sure, yes you should buy it, if you are comfortable with the price. Looking at the before and after photos I suspect you have already bought the lamp.
Yes, you should buy it. I don't think there are many around. I think they are all serviceable and can be brought back to working conditions.
Im having second thoughts on buying this the top part is completely rusted off and the manifold where the fuel and air mixes is missing too. What do you guys think?
We don't give evaluations and we can't look in your wallet. The change you will find the original parts is there but not likely. It looks like a Petromax style clone, so tehre is a change that those parts will fit. But then you end up with a brand mixed lantern. Looking at the as found picture it seems to ended in the ditch, found, cleaned. So what will work ?
Interesting find and I would buy it in a heartbeat. I do list the brand but not this model. The two Gaslam lamps in the PLC are the only ones I am aware of. In general Italian lamps are not common outside Italy but I suspect this brand is perhaps almost rare? I am not certain but I think Gaslam may be made by Solex in Italy. The few Solex I have seen are quite good quality and because they are in the style of Petromax this one should restore to function well. It is possible that the outer hood from a 350cp Petromax or clone will fit and anyway the outer hood doesn't have to be the correct original for the lamp to work. ::Neil::
You probably can't answer this question. I wonder if this lamp was used on a fishing boat or resided near the ocean. The pre-clean up photo looks like it has been subjected to sea air for a long time. I'm glad you decided to buy the lamp. Extremely rare lamps like this don't come along very often (Duh, obvious) and one should grab them when they can.
