Has anyone managed to find a candle lighter that is narrow and long enough to work for lanterns with small holes?

You may also consider a creme brulee burner. They have a long spiky flame.

For very little money you can buy wicks for candle making at Aliexpress ( type 'candle making' in their search engine). They come in many different lenghts.

What about a standard long kitchen match? That's all I've ever used and they always seem to work. Don't confuse them with regular pipe matches, they are too short.

I have a lighter (the one at the bottom in the picture below), that should be slightly thinner than the one in the picture you posted earlier, @Krisse .
I know you would like something with a tube that's at least as thin as the one shown on top of the lighter.

You can dismantle a standard lighter. The only thing to work out is the piezo lighting.
The gas is in a small tube.

It would be good to have pics of them in use/ being used if you could?

I have seen something similar to willi’s fire stick.. my mum had one, it was silver or silver plate a proper antique

Those flint lighters that @Buggerlugs posted aren’t called “WHOOMP-STICKS” for nothing…

I’ve got a few, New Old Stock, that I’ll never put on a lamp or lantern.

I use a long twisted brass wire with a wick bound in the end. Soak it in metho, light it and use it as a wick lighter. It’s safe, warms the generator, and eliminates the annoying flare up that Coleman lanterns and lamps are prone to.

I will post a photo tomorrow.

    Cheers

    Tony

Use it preferred for candles. But would suit for Lanterns too.
