Truthfully, it wasn’t a ‘present’ as I had to pay for it but it was definitely a ‘steal’.

    Hi Jean,
I'm not into lamps but it looks like a Tilley lamp to me. Am I right? You have a nice restoration project for the new year!
    O:)

It’s part of an early KL80 George, that harp frame isn’t found very often. The tank is copper with the large brass control knob. Not sure that is the correct pump and of course it’s missing the smoke bell, reflector and globe. Does anyone know if the smoke bell would have been the pringle shaped one?

Stunning Jean, still very much on my want list. Pretty sure the smoke bell would have been the pringle shape and the reflector will be the EX100 style with the little ears on top. The pump doesn't look like the correct age, possibly one with raised lettering and bayonet style NRV?

Sorry about the rubbish photograph but you get the idea - yes, pringle-shaped (i.e. hyperbolic paraboloid) smoke deflector, pump with raised lettering and bayonet-style NRV with ribbed cover - 1934-ish? The reflector may well be incorrect but with these you have to take what comes along. Shouldn't be difficult to replace with the correct one if it's wrong.

I'd always thought the curved one was the 'harp' frame, Jean. But as you say, this type of frame (whatever it's called) is definitely uncommon.

    Start saving, Matthew... ;)

Well, if you're not sure if it's a Christmas or birthday pressie, then what did you ask for originally?? ;)

It's a rare thing and lovely

I asked, as I’ve done for the past few years, for a crimson VL1.
