I'm trying to piece together a 200a and was really hoping to get a green ventilator for it (goal is to end up with a 201 style kero lamp) and have come to understand that even the 1200F rated paints wont last on a vent. This seller claims this is an original Coleman vent, but I don't recognize it with the tabs or bail eyelets, and it looks sort of like it was repainted on the inside judging by the tabs being green where they meet the top half of the vent. Does anyone recognize this as original or have any ideas on its origin? I know the 5122's had very similar (identical?) ventilators as the 200a/201, does anyone know if this is maybe from a 5122 and if it would fit a 200a? I can't find any close up pics of the 5122 vents to compare. COLEMAN-LANTERN PARTS-MODEL 200A-200B-GREEN-VENT CAP Excellent NOS | eBay
That goes to a Coleman 200B. They were made in the nineties and beyond. They come in red too as well as different special editions. Probably not a bad price, but you will need a special bale with stops crimped into it. If I’m not mistaken the bale does not go into the frame. Just into the vent, which is secured by the bail nut. It looks like a 200 vent but acts like all late model Coleman vents. I don’t believe this vent will work with an original 200/200a set up.
Ahhh OK, that all makes sense now. Thanks very much for the help! So on a 200B the bale doesn't hook directly into the burner frame like it would on a 200A. So if I were to bend the lower half of those tabs out of the way and install this 200B vent onto a 200A frame, it *should* work as long as the bale-ends extend far enough in to mate with the burner frame slots. And so I suppose that this all-black vent is also from a 200B and not some spray painted 200A? COLEMAN-SEARS-LANTERN PARTS-MODEL 200A-201B-BLACK-VENT CAP Post 1963 Excellent | eBay
Hello; wondering if you could offer an opinion on the following. I have 2 vintage red coleman 200 lanterns. At least i think they might be model 200 as that is what is printed on tank collars. Neither collar has the small grooved handle? above the clean out lever. The dates however on the bottom of both red painted founts is 7/66 which from what i have read is after the 200 was replaced starting in 54 with the 200A. The collars appear original and not having been switched out. Both tanks stamped made in Canada. Thoughts? txs for your time.
