Hello i need help on this, i took my col max apart got the generator off and stopped at that. Then i put some alcohol in the tank and pressured her up. However fuel keeps comming out from the valve although the wheel was in closed position. I also noticed that fuel was also coming out from the NRV and all pressure would leak out from this point What should i do?
Put your matches away. If it is leaking at the valve wheel, the gland nut may just need a tighten a bit or you may need to replace the gland nut washer/packing, whatever it is. If it is leaking at the tip of the generator, the pricker is likely missing or worn and you will need a replacement. The NRV needs a service by the sounds of it so you would be best to remove it, inspect it and then attend to any issues you find.
Your Col-Max does not have a control valve. That control only operates the pricker so cannot be relied on to completely shut off the fuel. The pricker wire will to some degree shut off the fuel but will probably always allow some to seep through and that is quite normal. ::Neil::
Thank you, finally figured it out as much. Had to replace the nipple as the old had too much fuel seeping outnof the hole. The next problem though would be is that fuel backflows from the NRV, the lamp lit up.but was not too.bright, then i tried to pump it up as i drew the pump it sucked fuel from the fount spilling it everywhere.
That leak from the pump valve happens. You need to replace the small rubber pip part 250A510 in the NRV cup. The whole valve is much the same as most Primus type stoves and will use the same size pip. This parts diagram may help. ::Neil::
Thank you for this! Would you have a diagram of the internals of the fount? Do you have any idea or link to any article on how i can take out the NRV, this NRV is diffrent from regular coleman nrv's
@Tevita palu as far as I know, there is only the pump tube inside the fount. You will need a special tool to take out the NRV. You can buy them but most of them are rubbish, it is better to make your own. They are not difficult to make and you can see one example about halfway down this page Trouble with the Optimus 1350. You can find other examples by typing Primus NRV tool in Search at the top of this page.
If you're making your own nrv removal tool, you need to ensure that the slot is snug enough on the head of the nrv and sits squarely down at the bottom of the pump tube. Do not use brute force to turn the tool. Otherwise, you might round off the brass head of the nrv and make it near-impossible to remove.
