Hi here is a tilley pump i found really corroded nothing visible on it but i knew it was special under that green was a very rare piece of tilley history think they used this pump around 1922-25 a dip in vinager some scotchbriting and it revealed itself just wish i had found it in a lamp!!!!
Hi den this style pump with the brentworks engraving would have been sported on the wall and table lamps of the period its just a great piece to have so rare as well, i have one lamp with one on in the gallery a TL14 my oldest tilley to date 1924 TILLEY TL 14 cheers pete
I just bought one of these with a TL10 on eBay. The seller had not posted an image of the pump but did state it had Brent Works marked on the pump. I suspect the pump is earlier than the lamp but with a 1935 valve and this pump it was cheap. I have seen one on an SY stove but never on a lamp. Had to be the standard pump in the 1920s but I don't know when it was replaced. Right now I can't argue with 1925. ::Neil::
Nice buy you got there then neil i reckon that this pump was changed when they changed the shape of the font from the early flat topped one i know was around in 1925 to the later style we see more commonly definately in by 1927 do you have a date for the change in tank? Its in the 27 brochure but like you once said missing years here, whatever you dont see many of them pumps just nice to have one pete
It sure was a nice buy. Only cost me £9.50 and postage. I reckon the valve was worth that never mind a real old pump and the base of a half decent polished and lacquered TL10. Got a dent mind but for that price who cares? Shows you just now and then you win one and eBay gives a bargain. Problem now is I don't have a lamp to shove it in. ::Neil::
