Very odd. Ony one bid - and that was the opening price, and the "winning" bidder had a feedback rating of 1

I almost reported this listing to eBay but wasn’t sure which category my complaint came under so just let it go. Definitely something fishy there.

Wouldn't surprise me if they didn't get paid or if they did, they return the lamps and we see them again...worth about £45 with a good wind behind them

I followed both, I reckon the first one was a self bid (well someone he knew bidding up the ridiculous £450)
Rijkswaterstaat SDR .. was expected .. although some would argue that was equally ridiculous..lol

Interesting as listing says ‘Tilley SDR style....’. Looks dodgy to me, who knows?

Could it be a way to make a dodgy payment look legit?

You know what they say a fool and his money are easily parted.
Or as we say in my family there is a sucker born every minute.

There was also another dodgy listing ( might still be on there) with a blue Makita tool box advertised as a Tilley lamp...! :^o

Re paying too much for lanterns. I reckon we are experiencing these items transitioning from vintage to antiques prices. The phenomenon likely started a few years ago and is likely to go on for another 10 years or so, before reaching a plateau. Prices will likely double or treble by then. Those of you with extensive lamp collections including very early Tilleys and Swedish and German lamps are literally sitting on a goldmine. Hold on to them as they will outperform stock and shares. Never mind Bitcoin and property. Buy the best lanterns you can afford and watch them go up in value. If you have space to store..... I live in a tiny place so no more than 8 To display (...:^o ok maybe 13 with the ones in the ‘queue’ and another one soon arriving from the US!)

    Happy New Year everyone!
