I have just learnt from Tony Press the sad news of the passing of Jim Dick last November. As author of the definitive Tilley book Jim's influence on all matters Tilley was huge and he will be greatly missed by all those of us who knew him.

    Neil.

    That is sad to hear.

I have heard of him by the wonderful Tilley book, which I often read with interest.. a great legacy to remember him with.

This one is for Jim Dick.

It’s not one of his collection, but the reason I was trying to contact him, and found out about his passing, was that I had been working on this lantern, and, at the same time, stumbled across some old correspondence between Jim and PK Taylor directly related to this lantern model.

This one is for you Jim.

Sad news indeed. His name will live on in the lamping world, his book being the must have for all those with an interest or passion for Tilley.

Have just heard the news about Jim. I wondered why I hadn't had a Christmas Card from him, nor a reply to my emails. A lovely guy. I had the joy and privilege of spending a week with him at his home in Canberra a good few years ago. We will miss him.
