Over here in the West Coast of Scotland we had -7 a few days ago but nothing like -14! Good to see two lovely lanterns doing their thing and keeping you warm and providing light - marvelous!
Tough men there. -14 degrees and no gloves! I notice other essential areas are kept snug as evidenced by the furry seat cover. Great pictures.
Are the lanterns kerosene or petrol fueled ? Were there any problems with getting them running ? I have lit kerosene lantens in -6C and found the methylated spirits (alcohol) a bit hard to light.
Those lanterns runs on kerosene. No problems with them. They are very well fettled. Radius 119 and a Bialaddin 300x.
Yes, in low temperatures the methylated spirit can be difficult to light. When camping overnight at Usha Gap one winter when the temperature was already -8 degrees C at 4pm the previous afternoon, a certain stovie member resorted to putting his spirit bottle down his underpants to warm it up - no names to protect the guilty... Edit: here's the write-up of the weekend - and 'Underpants Boy' identifies himself... Usha Gap | Classic Camp Stoves
Ok, but ill never had a singel problem, with the type of alcohol we are using. The winter of 1996 it was almost - 26° one night. Just fired up the red spirit and turned Tha stoves and landterns on.
Beautiful scenery @Jan-Ove Lorentzen! ... and I see you enjoy some Polish beverages there! (Lech beer)
