Hey there . New member , iv searched as much as I think I can on old threads but can’t find what I’m after. Iv just inherited what I believe to be a Tilley 668xa( stamped on the bottom of tank. ) it’s in pretty good nick and the pimp still works. Where do I find mantles for this and are spare parts / seals available? thsnks .
Hello and welcome @chris kelly. The 668xa is a date code, the numbers signify June 1968 which tells me you have a model X246B. It is not known what the letters mean. For other examples, have a look in the lamp Reference Gallery here X246B Spare parts / seals are still readily available. You can get seals from our sponsor, The Fettlebox. There are U.K. sellers who can furnish you mith mantles other spares, your fellow countrymen will be able to advise on where to obtain such items in Aus. A picture would be nice. We like pictures. edit: crossed with @Anthony
Given the date and considering how ubiquitous they are all around the world, my guess would also be an X246B (have a look in the Lamp Reference Gallery to confirm) but other Tilley products were available at that time and it could be something else. Not that I'd put much, or, in fact, any, money on it!
@chris kelly Welcome from Toowoomba Queensland. As stated it appears that you have a X246B. It’s well known, as attested to by many on this forum, that lamps need mates. One lamp just doesn’t cut it and it could be harmful to a lamp being the only one on the self. The cure? Get more lamps Cheers Pete
