This is one of the lamps I acquired 2 or 3 years ago that came back to Scotland from Zimbabwe. Not the original globe unfortunately but possibly complete otherwise? Don’t think the description ‘sicke’ applies to this one so when might it date from?
Not a Sicke but still from the 50s. There had been around four changes, I think. Can't remember the sequence on which one came earlier or later. Perhaps @Reinhard might know exactly.
@Jean J , you always can check here for special patent based details. The globe cage with ribs was mentioned end 50ties. So the one without, as yours, would not be made after that patent. The E from E&G was not in use after ww2. looks like it will clean up nice and will work.
Nice @Jean J looks very good. Re hand scratchings on the bottom of the fount. In my experience they take some finding. Normally I have polished the base of the fount with Autosol, which has then brought out the markings. Good luck, the 826 is a lovely lantern.
Nice one Jean! It looks like an older one, probably 1950's! I like these because you use the pre heater cup and don't need the torch!
Polished up the base to a mirror shine but all I could see was a reflection of my wrinkles but no scratched number.
Probably have to sell this one, can’t keep them all so not sure if I will try to light it. What kind of mantle would it need if I do have a go?
@Jean J Any single tie mantle from 3 to 6 hundred candle power would to to testfire. I use 500 co butterfly mantels to test and if all is well when they give up I replace them with a luxor. Other people may have much better choices but from eBay UK they work ok for me. James
Jean, I think once you clean it up and get it back together you might not want to part company with it!
