Well, I have been clowning about with this one all week. I am not sure what was in the tank from before but it was thick, green/black, smelly and horrible and took a lot of casutic soda to shift. I think this one might be a re-spray candidate. Good weeeknds all ! C
Very nice to see another guardsman brought back to life. My first pressure lamp was a guardsmen and I have just fettled another one and had just as much fun doing it as I did all those years ago. Often regarded as the most solidly built lamp of all time and still my go to workhorse.
This is my effort, it needed a new cleaning wire to unblock the jet and now has new washers. It will probably stay as is and work for a living. Enjoy
@Fireexit1 I am happy to hear you are now a fan of the x246 guardsman. Mine has acquired a new friend this afternoon, an x246 pork pie that just needed a new mantle to run.
@Fireexit1 It sounds like you are following a well trodden path to acquire an example of each of the Tilley lanterns working backwards through the years. Good luck and enjoy your quest. James
