Identify please

    Could you please help identify this lamp, it has only one stamp on the bottom which says 'Made in England'

    Hi @Claire mc Welcome to the forum- It is a Tilley x246 Guardsman. If you look in the reference section on this site you will see many of them. Also on this website lots of advice on how to get it going again.

    Good solid lamps, plentiful and cheap spares, not particularly valuable but a USER! the enamel tops do suffer. This one looks to be early 50's?

    Welcome to CPL @Claire mc

    Tilley started dating their lanterns in 1956. Have a good look on the bottom for some numbers and letters like 1058XA. These are a date stamp MMYY in this example October 1958.

    If there is no date stamp then the lantern dates from 1954 to 1956.

    It should clean up nicely.
