Work continues on the Brown Vapalux 300

Just waiting for media blasting to commence. As you say, it's in good nick and does not leak, so the rest should be clear sailing. When I finish I'll post pictures in the gallery. Stay tuned!

No, believe it's brass. It's a later wartime issue. By the time this came out W&B and others had gone back to brass when available.

 

Brass tank for sure... my son finished blasting the 300. All I have to do is mask off the areas that don't need painting and I think I'm all set!
Rounds out the E41/300 Vapalux wartime collection nicely: three 300 and three E41 lanterns!

 

Look forward to seeing to seeing the finished lamp. Is the font slotted or does it have the triangle opening? I do have a soft spot for the Vapalux 300.

 

Slotted opening or triangle shaped. Mine was probably made between July-Oct 1944.

 

I bought one of those recently in very good condition. Lovely lamps.

 

I know, they are great lanterns!
I am ready to mask off the areas that don't need painting and this baby it ready for paint!

 

All set! Gave it to my son to paint it. Will get it back together and see how it turns out!
(My son is doing most of the PIA- type work... I'm thankful he is willing to do it.)

 

Finished all painting, now just get it all back together. I'll post the finished product in the reference gallery.
