    Hi All

a very long time since I have written last, I hope all are well in these crazy times.

I have a very nice (not perfect, but still very nice) tito landi lamp
and I want to see it burn again , last time I used it it burned perfectly

    2 questions:
The first - I dont have additional mantles for it , what is the right mantle to buy/modify/adjust so it could fit the lamp?

The second - does anyone knows model and approximate year of this? I think I had the information written down somewhere but the hell if I can find it

    Thanks!!

    Hi Doron,

I think it is the nr.35 Lampe Moderne from around 1930.
There are still Tito-Landi mantles around, but a bit hard to find.
Second best is an Aladdin Upright mantle. You can find these on eBay!

If anyone has either Tito Landi mantles or any substitutes that will fit and work, I may be persuaded to part with some of my hard-earned pension... ;)

That’s perked me up after a post-Covid-jab doze, David. Another go at getting a Tito Landi to perform!

Tito-Landi is well covered in here.
Just search for it, and you will find.

Personally I have always used Aladdin Upright gas mantles as a substitute. They do the job perfectly, even if they are a bit too long, which of course not matter for the performance.
You just have to (gently) cut the frame away, and then you have a mantle that will do a perfect job.
The most used Tito I have, still use the same old Aladdin mantle that I placed there ages ago. And it was actually in use as late as last weekend. And it performed flawlessly.

I saw a TL lit once and I have to say the light output wasn't huge. Perhaps it wasn't working at full capacity - it's all to do with the state of the wick, apparently. :-k

But still the damned things intrigue me...

Yes. Gently cut the aluminium frame and bend it away.
The steel wire that is the actual holder-or hanger-shall of course remain on the mantle.
On the Aladdin mantles I have used, that wire has been locked in place with the aluminium frame with a dab of glue, and getting the thin wire free from that is the part that need a bit of a gentle touch.

does anyone have experience with them? mantles? pre-heater ?
Pieces looks very fair and free international shipping - is it too good to be true?

    Hello Doron,
    How is life doing ?

Interesting site you found. I am in doubt. It looks good but the mantle looks strange as well that they don't show lamps in action as we say.

The preheater look pretty crappy in my opinion. You will make a better one yourself.
Same thing with the mantles, as Wim says. Looks like someone just simply has made a ringshaped retainer and tied a regular two-tied mantle to it. I think that this retainer has a too long wire hanger. It will make the mantle hang much lower than an original one does, and thus you will not be able to make as much light as you should. You can make a better one yourself in that case too. Or just simply use the Aladdin mantles you have ordered. They work fine.
