Death of a Butterfly

    Went to trade some scrap for cash and on on my way out saw a Butterfly tank on the heap. Someone had tried to do an arc weld repair to the valve bung and chopped a hole in the side.
    They gave it to me and I used the pump tube to replace the damaged pump tube on a Glory lantern I have had about two years on the fettling shelf.
    Should have taken before shots as it cleaned up better than expected.

    Looks like the fuel vapour in the tank exploded with the heat from the arc-welder.

    I wonder if the perpetrator qualified for a Darwin Award. If he didn't, I hope he was wearing his brown corduroy trousers that day... :lol:

    I think I got that Darwin Award once when I used a flame to strip paint off a lantern tank. Thankfully only a whoosh when the vapour ignited and no explosion.
