1970's Optimus 1350

    Bought this a few days ago from a local former scout leader. Been in his garage for about 25 years. I don’t think it had been used very often.

    Very nice, how does the quality and build compare to the Original Petromax of the same vintage?

    @Jean J I think you got the dates swapped around from the other post. It was the 350 that was from ca. 1960 and this 1350 is most likely from the 1970s.

    @eiremax I would put the build quality of these lamps as about the same as the German made Petromaxes.

    Many a person claims the Anchor Lantern to be a Petromax clone, after seeing this Im thinking its a copy of the Optimus. The hood is identical save the enamel top, the similarities between the globe support frame are also quite noticeable.

    Well the original Optimus lanterns were also Petromax clones, so in a way everything you say is correct. :)
