Question, what is the construction difference of a Colenan unleaded Lantern vaporiser, Versus the ordinary Coleman gasoline vaporiser, that makes the unleaded vaporiser suitable for standard car gasoline ??
Might be a little better provision for deposited solids capture, but really not much difference other than shorter life expectancy when using auto fuels. Mostly just a marketing ploy.
Interesting point. I sectioned a malfunctioning Coleman 533 ‘dual fuel’ stove generator along its length ... and when the cutting wheel approached the gas tip a puff of debris emerged, which I collected some of (hard carbon deposit). It was in this cavity near the tip. The stove came to me from a previous owner reeking of pump gasoline (the stove, not the owner) and the generator was shot. Burndout’s right, the ‘dual fuel’ tag (pump gasoline or white gas) isn’t borne out as a viable alternative when those deposits from the auto fuel shorten generator life.
I don't know about stove generators but as far as the lanterns are concerned, the ones suitable for unleaded gasoline are wider in diameter which means it takes longer to get choked up with all the additives which won't burn in a lantern.
Ah thanks. Then its all about inner diameter and volume. No other construction difference between unleaded and normal vaporiser. Would methods help reduce the carbon and additives deposit, by reducing the vaporiser peak temperature?
I doubt that reducing the temperature would (how incidentally?) because it’s the much higher temperatures of combustion and pressure that burns off the additives in internal combustion engines. So higher, if anything, and not lower.
