Can anyone Identify this Lamp? It was described for sale as a MOD Vapalux 320, but except for the glass doesn't look like a 320 to me. I have searched the web for something similar to no avail. This looks like a M1 with a 315 or 320 glass. Confusing! s-l1600.jpg

It looks like a military style bialaddin 305 going by the large filler cap with the wrong glass fitted.

Agree MOD 305 - maybe a 320 or 315 glass ? - the straight sided ones are easier to come by. I got one from the base camp that was substantially thicker for my M1. Apparently they got them made to original spec by a manufacturer in the UK. Any MOD markings on it ?

It's a Vapalux M1 but the wrong globe has been fitted. A straight Willis and Bates globe will fit. Looks to be in good condition too.

Thanks guys. I just got the winning bid on this. I have a spare straight glass.

Apologies I couldn't edit the above post for some reason. I think it is a 305, Colin going by the size of the filler cap, plus I found an identical one in the Lamp ref Gallery (Steve).
When it arrives I'll take some pics and post it there.

Others on this board have in the past (and very credibly) postulated that parts were interchanged to make working lanterns within MOD workshops. So who knows... :-k

Throwing in my two penn'orth- mostly Bialaddin 305 (Mark 2), as it has the large filler cap and older style pump top, with a 320 glass and possibly M1 top. Photo's too blurry to make out the collar stamp.

Not my photos but I'll take some decent ones upon arrival. Maybe the make and model stamp will reveal more?

M1/21C but the larger font cap does indicate 305 (could be a hybrid) straight glass will allow it to breathe properly. Nice nick, definite user.

Just Collected this lamp and It's definitely a Frank. The Hood paint does not match the tank, the glass is from a 315/320 and there is no model number on the stamp (See photo).

    It doesn't need a model number - it's a military bitza...

...and as for the hood colour not matching the tank, you'll laugh about that in years to come... ;)

@David Shouksmith Cheers David, yes it's my first military piece, but it's in nice condition. Got a straight glass handy for it too! It also happens I need the glass already in it for a Bialaddin 315.....very handy!

They weren’t good at matching colours. Come to think of it, I’ve never seen one matched....

So... 305(1954-68?) tank, filler cap and pump.
M1(1969?-78) glass support and hood(probably). The glass support is usually stamped with the stores number and date.
Frame and preheater could be either.
Pricker control- depends on the knob. If it says "Bialaddin" then 305.
Burner probably M1: earlier ones have a knurled ring round the dome.

I'm keeping this one as is....works very well!
@steerpike451 The knob does have Bialaddin on it. The Glass Support has Vapalux etc.
