I think this Aladdin heater is newer (maybe from the 60’s/79’s?). The Florence perhaps from the late 1800’s. Has anyone seen these before? Know anything about them?
The heater looks very 1970s. Reminds me of one my parents had back then. The wick stove is of a type that is fairly common in Europe. They can be found with 1, 2 or 3 wicks. They are from the late 1800s or early 1900s. I havn't seen one with Florence on before. I've never tried so I don't know how easy it is to find wicks the right size.
@Nils Stephenson Thanks for the feedback. I am curious about the wick stove. I found out it is called a Sad Iron Heater. The guy wanted $100 USD for the one above. But I found a different one for $34 USD and I think it still has a wick in it, but no glass so I'll need to replace. I may surprise my wife and boil some water for her tea on it.
I suppose they would have been good to heat an iron. You would have to be careful not to turn up the wick too much as soot on the iron would not be welcome when ironing your white shirts. What brand is the one you bought?
Once you guys told me what it was and I was able to do some research, I thought it was quite cool. It's a small lamp, stove, and perhaps heater. Not sure how much heat it throws off. The one I bought is AJ Lindemann and Co, Milwaukee, WI. It is missing the class and has a dent in the cast iron. But nothing appears to be broken or would seem to affect its function. I saw a double wick one for $20 USD that I am asking about. Not sure its brand.
