    Afternoon all! I cannot for the life of me remove this Gland nut. I've tried WD40 pliers (with leather protection), vice etc but no joy. I don't want to damage it. Any Ideas?
    Also on the pricker rod there seems to be a tiny ridge....Is this normal? Tilley fettling is pretty new to me.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi @Johnny19 .. The ridge is normal for the pricker, It's how they're made...

    The gland nut should come off anti clockwise.. right hand thread as normal...

    The knurling has almost gone so I would put the main body in a vice, protected with leather or similar, and get a pair of pliers on the gland nut with the spikey bit gripping... Slowly turn gripping hard making sure it doesn't slip...

    The main thing is to get it undone and get it working now..
    It sounds like someone has put threadlock on it in the past?

    @podbros Yes, because I have another Tilley, and the gland nut came off very easily on that. I need to get a couple of those washers though, because I've stupidly lost them somewhere. I don't know why there's 2 together in there though!

    @Johnny19

    The advantage of using two of those little washers in the gland nut is that you don’t have to tighten it up as hard to make a good seal.

    Cheers
