The way to go Johnny ... hey beats higher prices , sometimes I just run my lamps on Kerosene 28 sec from there no problem ... perhaps a tad smellier , but little difference ... I also add Holts Brake cleaner a small squirt
this is obtainable or around 12 pounds on Ebay ... it is light hydrated Naptha alcohol based .... NOT WATER ..BASED ..... Panel wipe very similar ...like Swan lighter fuel .... I have winter handwarmers that run on it ...so a big 5 litre can is 12 pounds .... last all season lamps and handwarmers.

Aztec has just bought that site ... it used to be Caldo oils but he sold it ... for cash. anyway good price eh !
    ttfn ..

@Alby for my white Gas Lamps I got 5L of Aspen 4 from a Garden Centre, it's a lot cheaper than the Coleman fuel.
Yes good call for that Paraffin. That will last for ages now.

Here Kerosene is available at the pump for about 0.60 cent a litre. I have used it in Primus and Petromax type lanterns with 0 issues.

Kerosene over here was headed for $4.00 a gallon the last time I checked (a year ago - ?).
Hopefully, it's dropped since I checked.

Thats the great thing about these forums. Sharing knowledge, and things like where to buy stuff. That Aspen 4 was £18 for 5L. Coleman fuel is over £6 for 1 litre.
@george I wish we still had Gallon measurements here. It's mad because we still have Miles on the roadsigns, and certain weights are still in the old money!

Yeah but they are not the same gallons. A US gallon is 128 floz and an imperial gallon 160 floz so they don't compare. US liquid measure is based on a 16 oz pint and our old imperial pint is 20oz but both are 8 pints to the gallon and 2 pints to the quart. One consequence of this is with tank capacities given in lamp instructions. The one and a half pint stated for a Tilley is 30 floz which is near enough a quart in US measure which is 32floz. Not a vital difference perhaps but does affect consumption times. ::Neil::

It's a real consideration in a bar in the USA. You ask for a pint and you get 16fl oz - so already 20% down on the deal. Then there is the question of how much head or froth you get. I will leave that aside as it is contentious here in the UK as well. Then there is the obligatory 20% tip. So a "pint" of beer in the USA has a better headline price than the UK, but actually costs more.
Not sure what that has to do with everything but I have typed it now..

And not forgetting the 1/6 gill pub measure of Whisky in England, against 1/5 in Scotland, and I heard 1/4 in NI?

In the UK, 28 sec kerosene is heating oil. Begging some off a friend or neighbour who has oil fired heating is the cheapest way to get some. I just syphon some out of my storage tank.

If you use a lot or can share with friends, one option is to buy a used 500l storage tank which is the minimum delivery for most suppliers. Best to use a consolidation site like Boilerjuice. Currently, 500l delivered is 41.31p (57c) a litre. Actually, the price has gone up quite a bit recently - I paid 26.76p (37c) a litre for 600 litres in November.
