    Apologies if this has been done many times before but I’m stuck for ideas tips tricks as to how I can remove a stuck non return valve on a Bialaddin 300 X tank. It’s been soaked over night in penetrating oil but still won’t budge. I’ve tried a bit of gentle heat but I’m now at the point of loosing the slot in the screw completely. I’m guessing I’ll have to drill it out but I don’t have any long enough bits at the moment and also I need to get this done today if possible. Any help appreciated.

    Tightening it a tad can free it sometimes.

    Put the screwdriver (a suitably sized one) in a vice and turn the tank. It allows you to both apply more force to holding the blade in the non return valve slot and additional torque.

    Another tip is to wind insulation tape around the screw driver in a couple of places until it just fits in the pump tube, this helps keep the blade square on to the head of the NRV and reduces the risk of chewing up the slot

    @Henry Plews, idea is the best. Make sure your tool fits perfectly.
    In the valve slot as well as the pump tube.

    Many thanks for the tips, this is an excellent forum. I managed to free it up just after posting the thread but thought I’m bound to come across this issue again so decided to wait until now before replying. I ended up using one of my gun smithing screwdriver bits in an extendable screwdriver connected to a torque driver. I ruined the slot as my finger jerked on the trigger but it came out.

    @mauser

    I’m glad you got it out.

    If you can’t repair the current slot, just cut another at 90°.

    Cheers

    Tony
