Warming up a bit here in the UK. Sat out with a coffee watching the bats.

    Good light-up!

Did the 930 get BMD at all?

Sorry, BMD = Black Mantle Disease.

These, and other lanterns, sometimes have a susceptibility to developing black spots or patches on the mantle. No definite known cause but it's possibly related to the volatility of the fuel in different countries...

No BMD on the Optimus although I have been wondering about trying a larger mantle on it. The Optimus mantle really shrank once lit and I’m not hugely impressed with the light output compared to the similarly sized Coleman 249 which is insanely bright.

The PL53 however did have a black spot which led me to find a small split in the mantle. New ones due in the post.

Time to start a common summer garden lantern thread.

Wow, what a light up. Enjoying it, I hope with a beverage or three.
We’re moving into autumn here in Aussie and the days are quite beautiful in God’s country ... AKA Queensland.
    Enjoy
    Cheers
    Pete

Great light up, its that time of year again. my 930 gets so hot I sometimes wonder if it was designed for melting snow, not one for running indoors.

@Buggerlugs - Yes steel fount and handle. The fount is painted in Ford Polar Grey with an EHT Matt lacquer finish. Closest I could get to what was left of the finish when I found her. Just monitoring it at the moment as I think I may have a pinhole leak, considering my first attempt at tank sealing.

Our steel founts that I have seen in Australia are silver in colour, I wonder if we had different colours as well?
