Don't give up on it, Levi.
There shouldn't be any valves on your lantern except for the pump and footvalve NRVs inside the fount.
Most Petromax-styled lanterns are similar in character. They are sometimes tricky. That's the fun on it.

Am I thinking like a coleman guy? The block of brass with the spiny thingy that controls the fuel thingy that screws into the fount thingy. That’s what I’m talking about.

On the Pmax and clones it is called the Lower Vapouriser. The Upper Vapouriser is what Coleman calls the Generator. The lower vapouriser is not a valve. The wheel on it is only a pricker control.
But on models that have a Rapid torch pre-heater there is a foot valve on the end of the fuel pickup tube that is closed when the pricker is turned up so that you can pressurise the fount without fuel piddling out of the jet (gas tip).

There is a lead seal washer between the lower vapouriser and the fount. It needs to be replaced every time you unscrew the lower vapouriser from the fount because you tighten up the lower vapouriser until it is clocked just right and cannot back it off again without the seal leaking.

    . . . and 339

As far as the lanterns are concerned, perhaps not. As for the person using the lantern, it depends on whether they want the lantern to be as it came from the factory or to get more light without burning more fuel. If you want more bang for your buck, the 99 mantle is eminently suitable and preferred by many (subject to availability) for all the Coleman 200 and 242 series, 201, 214, 247, 249, single mantle AGM lanterns of a similar size e.g. 3016, Kamplite and JC Higgins badged models, also Austramax and Handi lanterns to name but a few of the scores of single mantle lanterns which benefit from having the 99 mantle.

Or put five or six turns of PTFE gas tape around the threads before screwing the valve back in.

    Well, you probably are.:)
These Euro lanterns are completely different from most Coleman-styled ones. You need to steep yourself in Euro tradition and imagine that you have never use a Coleman before. Put all your understanding about Coleman aside and start fresh with a Euro mindset.
There are no positive shut-off valves to operate. There is no way to reliably turn off or control the fuel besides relieving the fount pressure. Since the intended fuel is kerosene, there isn't a real need for a positive shut off.
Unlike the Coleman valve manifold, these Euro ones don't use tapered threads and therefore the lead seal/washer on the lower vaporizer part.
That pricker control knob/wheel is not meant for controlling the fuel when the lantern's already lit and running.

Thanks for the help! Guess I need a lead washer. My buddy Toby hates European lanterns. “Throw em on the junk shelf and light a coleman. Works every time without fail, and they’re easier to fix when they break.” I’m trying to get into these euros I tell ya. Way to bright and pretty to just give up. Might’ve liked them more before a Tilley would cost $500.

Lead washers are really easy to make from 1/8" lead sheet. Drill or punch, cut out, file if needed, use. They do not even need to be super neat like this rather expensive one from Britelyt.

I think I’d rather just buy one instead of buying a lead sheet and making one. Won’t be able to get many more euro lanterns before my net worth is -$100000000

Welcome to the forum. - Part no 2721 is what you need. "Blandningsrör"

Normally I would go to www.fogas.se or Optimus Spares Price List However stock seems to be an issue with both of them. Base camp might be worth an email as they often have bits available that are not on the website

Others may know a source closer to you.
    Good luck
