Twitten = a Sussex word for an alleyway or narrow path usually between walls or hedges. I found an old bracket on the wall and as I had some lamps lit - I had to test it out
Great photo, so in Sheffield this would be called a jennel or a ginnal...(neither are probably spelt correctly) In the terraced houses were I grew up we referred to the passages i between the house as a jennel. It’s I bit like the bread cake, cob, balm, bap, t cake..et al debate...
Do you know a ginnel from a twitten? - BBC Bitesize Also Snicket | Definition of Snicket at Dictionary.com I was taught the difference between a ginnel and a snicket was that a ginnel ran between high walls, usually but not necessarily, those of buildings and was open at both ends. A snickett ran between fences or hedgerow and had a gate at one end at least, though I've not yet been able to find a reference to a gate.
Excellent. Looks really good. Nothing like this where I live (about 10 miles west of Brighton) so I take mine camping and use a Petromax Lamp Hanger (it fits around a tree!).
Awesome shot there @Fireexit1 I’m loving the way the brickwork has been used for the passage way’s roof. Cheers Pete P.S. The lady with the lamp looks great too ......
Great action shot, with that handy brick ceiling you could also light up the ginnel with some indoor lamps.
