I’m fed up with this rebuild, after all its not rocket science although it might as well be. Bialaddin 300 X is really fighting me all the way. I thought I was on the home straight, only the re-assembly left to do then I discovered the control cock knob won’t go on as it’s contacting the bottom of the triangular access cutout on the cage. I did manage to mix up some different lamp parts earlier in the renovation (Vapalux and Bialaddin both 300x and a 320 M) but I’ve tried all three knobs I have here and they all don’t have the necessary clearance. I’ve even tried a slightly thicker control cock washer as I bought two kits from different sellers. I just don’t get it, the thing worked I assume before I stripped it down although I’m not 100%. Has anyone else come across this before ? All suggestions welcome and sorry for the rant but I needed it.
Probably a long shot but has the top of the tank been pushed in ? There should be around 6.5mm between the straight edge and the boss for the frame fixing screw
Hi Mauer, there is a possibility that you have a wrong control cock fitted maybe off the 320 with a short eccentric shaft Here is a picture of the correct one and what it should look like fitted Regards Ian, hope this is useful.
Sounds like you have the short shaft one fitted hench the knob catching on the frame, the 300x needs to be fitted with the long shaft cock to avoid this happening.
From your picture Ian it looks like I have the wrong length shafts on both 300 x lamps, what are the chances.....both lamps ! Anyone know where I may find the longer shaft without having to buy the whole unit ? Thanks for all the help from everyone, it’s appreciated.
Don't be fooled by the hex fitting, it's soldered in position. The shaft is not sold as a seperate item, you'll have to buy the whole unit.
Nowdays I use a shoe box to put the parts for every projects in. Before that i mixed up parts, lost some. Good Luck! Regards Matti
I must say I’m confused....not difficult I know... Both 300X long and short length control cocks should fit. Yes the shorter one is little fiddly. See my example below.
Looks like you are suffering for the the sins of a previous encumbent. On the upside you will end up with spares for the next build !
