Just bought a Bialaddin 305

I have just bought this Bialaddin 305. It's in a bit of state pump is seized and there is an air button missing (anybody got one to sell) they are round where as the Vapalux 300 ones are Hexagon, also there is some sort of Green crud around the tank. The tank is Brass so is the cage. The Glass was original stamped Bialaddin but unfortunately fell to bits while I was cleaning it must have been very fragile so that's something else to replace. Can anyone put a date on this please. Thank you.

 

Early 50s I would have guessed. Nice lantern. The green crud is verdigris, containing copper carbonate. The lantern must have been sat in a damp cellar or shed fir a good while. You can remove the encrustations mechanically with a buffing machine, or just submerge the bottom of the tank in vinegar for a few hours. That should do the trick. Looks like a decent lamp to fettle!

 

@Pitsmoor Col I've got a spare button for You. That lamp is going to take a bit of cleaning up though!
