The event was due to take place the first weekend of June but the new UK roadmap out of lockdown means gatherings of more than 30 people will still not be able to happen. I will arrange an online event as we did last year. Prime Minister sets out roadmap to cautiously ease lockdown restrictions
This would have been my first Newark gathering. Greatly disappointed but safety first. Now for next year ...
You may feel invited to the continental gatherings. I'd believe, that at least 2 of 4 German collectors conventions will take place. hytta meeting in mid West Germany in june. And central north germany wick lantern meeting in Borlefzen in august. Uncertain remain the earlier Coleman collectors convention Lengerich , And Petromax meeting in Sassenberg, both in may.
Shaun and I would still like to do something after cancelling Bateman's brewery weekend in 2020..we will see how things go later on in the summer perhaps.
If general public restrictions lifted, You could still have an individual camping weekend. Accidentally on same camping site. At same weekend. View each others lanterns from the distance required in public. And with masks.
Call it an Antique Fair and you can have as many people as you want. You can even arrive the night before to set up. . This was going to be my first convention here as well. too bad. Hopefully, something will come up later in the year. George
@spiritburner I'm aware of that. I was just simply stating that tent camping is available from May 17 should anyone wish to do so. It doesn't even need to be an event....Just a few folk making a similar time booking and taking a few lamps with them. This could actually be the way forward, having several smaller Impromptu meets throughout camping season, at least until this madness ends...... Let me start the ball rolling. I will be camping at Small Batch Campsite near Church Stretton from 23rd July 21. I'll be taking some lamps and a stove or 2 with me. I know he has a few pitches left. Workarounds like this need to be done at the moment. It's not ideal, but it's something even if only 2 or 3 folk turn up. It gets You out at least.
Will you still be running the virtual event? We are planning virtual Newark at Darley Dale again just wondered what weekend it will be??
I know its a disappointment. I really enjoyed the virtual meeting last year. It was great seeing different members from all over the world who wouldn't normally get chance to go to Newark. I'll certainly be joining, putting on a display and having a beer or 3
That was a nice mini-meet with Julian from Pelam forum. Link stays open for anybody. I might be online again thu or sat late evening.
